TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is a qualification from the TAE10 Training and Education Training Package. Read below important information regarding the newly endorsed TAE40116.

    Overview of the TAE40110

The TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is aimed at people whose primary job role is that of a workplace trainer and/or assessor. The qualification prepares trainers/assessors to work effectively in any environment and focuses on training/assessing in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector.

TAE40110 is a broad qualification addressing performance of the following tasks in a VET context:

    • Designing learning programs
    • Adult language, literacy and numeracy
    • Delivering learning in a variety of contexts
    • Planning, developing, conducting and validating assessments

The training is especially suited for:

    • trainers/assessors
    • enterprise trainers/assessors
    • registered training organisation trainers/assessors
    • vocational education teachers
    • individuals intending to update and/or upgrade current skills and knowledge to the new qualification
    • individuals intending to have existing skills and knowledge recognised
    • individuals intending to extend career path options

Delivery Mode: Classroom. York College provides the classroom format to private groups only. We require a minimum of 8 participants.

If you are an individual seeking to enrol in a Sydney only classroom based course, we are happy to refer you to an industry colleague. See this link:

The TAE40116 was endorsed on 1 April 2016 & the TAE40110 has until 5 October 2017 before it is removed from our scope. Training Packages are generally updated every 5 years in the VET industry. According to Standard 1.26, “Subject to Clause 1.27 and unless otherwise approved by the VET regulator the RTO ensures that: (a) where a training product on its scope of registration is superseded, all learners’ training and assessment is completed and the relevant AQF certification documentation is issued or learners are transferred into its replacement, within a period of one year from the date the replacement training product was released on the National Register”.

Every RTO with the TAE40110 on its scope will be required to re-apply to ASQA to deliver the TAE40116. ASQA has issued a statement to indicate they will heavily scrutinise all applications, so it is held it may be some time before the TAE40116 is generally available.

What does this mean for you? All students who have signed up to the TAE40110 from 1 April 2016 with York College will be upgraded to the TAE40116 as soon as we are approved to deliver the new qualification. This should not deter you from getting on with your work as the Unit TAELLN411 is included with your purchase and is a core unit in the TAE40116. The unit TAEASS502 is a new core in the TAE40116 not in the TAE40110. We’ll notify you when the time comes of transitioning to the new qualification.

  • How is the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) structured?

The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) is divided into three (3) clusters: Design, Delivery and Assessment plus one unit of competency TAELLN411. There are ten (10) units of competency covered in these clusters; seven (7) core units and three (3) electives.

How is the TAE40110 classroom program conducted?

The TAE40110 Certificate IV classroom program is, ideally, conducted over a 10-week period with 10 face-to-face sessions. Training may be customised to suit your work environment. We can deliver the course over a shorter time period and number of days but the participants will be responsible for completing various Learning Activities in the workplace or their own time.

Will all assessment work be completed at the sessions?

The content and what will be required of you for the assessments will be covered at the sessions. The assessments themselves will be completed both in classroom and in your own time. We generally recommend the TAE40110 Certificate IV classroom program is conducted over a 10-week period to ensure participants do have sufficient time in between sessions to complete the assessment work.

Am I required to be currently working as a trainer/assessor to complete the assessment work?

No. The TAE40110 Certificate IV Face-to-face program is designed for a range of participants, whether you are new to the industry, a previous trainer/assessor but not currently working or a full-time trainer/assessor wanting to improve his/her skills and knowledge in training and assessment.

What if I’m not one of a group?

York College's Online/Distance TAE40110 program has been enormously successful over the last 18 months since we introduced it. People who have had the motivation to work though the course steadily have met with a great deal of success. The standard of work has been very high, students love the flexibility, they have 12 months to complete & the course assessments are customised for their specific needs.

Is there assistance available out of session hours?

Absolutely! Your trainer for the program will be more than happy to assist you via phone, online or in person.

Will I receive the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) testamur and transcript at the end of the program?

Yes! Once all assessment work has been marked and deemed competent, York College will issue you with your testamur and transcript for the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110).
