    Recognition Pathway — RPL Assessment

Description of RPL Assessment or tae40110 upgrade

A 'recognition' assessment is known by many terms: recognition of prior learning (RPL) and recognition of current competence (RCC) are two of the more common ones.

A recognition assessment means that a student already has the required skills and knowledge needed to be deemed competent and therefore is ready to be assessed 'up front' without needing to be trained.

In recognition assessments, it doesn't matter how the student acquired the required skills and knowledge. Skills and knowledge may have been acquired:

    • formally (e.g. previous training completed)
    • informally (e.g. they learned from a family member)
    • through work (e.g. they have been doing the relevant job for some time now but have never sought formal recognition of competence before).

Enrolment in RPL does not guarantee that a student will be awarded the TAE40110 qualification. Before enrolling, YC insists on discussing your experience with you to ensure that you have a realistic chance of success if deciding on an RPL approach.

    Target client group

This option is ideal for people who:

    • have recent skills, knowledge and experience designing learning, delivering training and/or assessing in the workplace against nationally-recognised (Training Package) competency standards
      AND
    • are able to provide up-to-date evidence (proof) of competency.

    A combination approach

Description of using a combination of RPL and Training

You may want to obtain your TAE40110 qualification through a combination of training and recognition assessment.

    Target client group

This option is ideal for people who have existing skills and knowledge in some aspects of the TAE40110 qualification, but limited skills and knowledge in other aspects.

For example, students who already have BSZ40198 Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training may prefer a combined approach in which they:

    • provide current evidence of their skills/experience in the training/assessment activities they have undertaken in the past
      AND
    • enrol in training for those aspects of the TAE40110 qualification not covered in the BSZ40198 qualification.

    Enrolling in a combined approach

If you are interested in combining your options, contact YC. We can help you put together a learning/assessment plan that is most suitable for you.
